The “Outing” in Scouting

Troop 1 holds one or two outdoor events each and every month. These events can include camping, hiking, backpacking, biking, kayaking/canoeing, rock climbing, snow activities, and community service projects. At the end of each school year, Troop 1 holds a Pool Party.

Summer Camp

Troop 1 regularly attends at least one week-long camp during the Summer. Summer camps are a great opportunity for advancement, and offer lots of fun and memories for Scouts. Camps offer merit badges such as Swimming, Lifesaving, Fishing, Nuclear Science, Nature Studies, and Pioneering, but also include adventurous activities like Snorkeling, Zip Lines, Climbing, Whitewater Rafting, Kayaking, Sailing, Archery, and Rifle Shooting. All Scouts attend camp for fun and to earn individual merit badges. Troop 1 Scouts are no different. However, Troop 1 Scouts are also expected to compete for unit level awards and recognition, participate in a service project, volunteer to raise/lower flags, and perform a skit at each camp.
